We offer three destinations in France, with the Loire Valley offering the easiest cycling.
On all the cycling holidays we will split into different groups depending on the type of cycling you are looking for. The ‘coffee and cakes’ group take everything at a relaxed pace, admiring the scenery, while the fastest group enjoy the chance to prove their fitness! With other groups in between as well, the cycling expeditions are ideal for everyone looking for an active and refreshing break.
We will follow a range of carefully selected routes, which gradually increase in length from around 15 miles on the first day to around 45 miles on the last day.
All the rides are of course optional but by building up the length of the rides through the week, the groups build up their fitness and you may well be surprised to find how far you can cycle! Also, depending on the destination, there may be options to extend or shorten the distance on some routes.
This year, there will be no overnight travel for this holiday. The Loire Valley is renowned for its châteaux and river landscapes. We stay in a key location with a campsite right by the River Loire.
From here we follow a variety of cycling routes along country lanes and forest tracks that take us through medieval villages, along the banks of the river, and into the magnificent, vast parks surrounding the aristocratic châteaux. The Château de Chambord is one of the most amazing; the grounds alone are larger than the whole of central Paris.
The last two days will be free days - the bikes will be moving to another location but there is plenty to do around the campsite, including kayaking, mini golf and a heated swimming pool. The local town of Blois is an interesting place to explore, and from here you can also take a train to the city of Orleans with its impressive cathedral or even Paris.
