"Oak Hall continues to offer a wide range of holidays in its summer programme that are designed with adventure in mind. For those who prefer a more mellow style we have arranged ideal tours with no overnight travel. All age groups are welcome, but this holiday may particularly appeal to those in the more mature age group."

The Essence of Christmas

Our 'Essence of Christmas holidays' have been very popular. For this refreshing break in 2025, we are staying at the Monarch Hotel in Bridlington in December .

Bridlington offers a long promenade for leisurely walks by the sandy beach, with picturesque views, as well as the Priory Church, dating back to the 12th century, and a museum in the historic town gatehouse.

Christmas is a wonderful time to enjoy refreshing celebrations and the joyful message of Jesus' birth.

Excellent excursions

Our first outing will be a quiet day in Beverley, a delightful market town known for its Georgian elegance and rich heritage. Visit the stunning Beverley Minster, often regarded as a hidden gem of Gothic architecture, and enjoy the quaint cobbled streets filled with boutique shops and inviting tea rooms. Take your time to enjoy a leisurely browse through the town’s charming streets and hidden corners.

York: the Capital of the North

The following day, we head to York, a city steeped in history. Here, we can explore the iconic York Minster, one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Northern Europe, and stroll through the Shambles, a medieval street lined with unique shops and cafes. Discover York’s rich history at its excellent museums, including the National Railway Museum, home to historic locomotives, and the York Castle Museum, showcasing life through the centuries.

For a special treat, visit the renowned Betty's Tea Room, where you can enjoy traditional afternoon tea in an elegant setting. Be sure to visit York's Christmas Market, with its festive stalls, seasonal treats, and a holiday atmosphere. Don’t miss the city walls, offering splendid views of York's historic skyline.
