We spend our first two nights in a three-star hotel in the beautiful town of Harrogate, which developed as a spa destination in the 18th century. Why not book a visit to the Turkish Baths or enjoy an afternoon tea amongst the tradition and grandeur of Betty's cafe?
The remarkable World Heritage Site at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal displays the ruins and cloisters against a beautiful landscaped background at this National Trust site.
The local shops will have plenty of Scottish shortbread and other local crafts. There will be much to see locally including Melrose Abbey and the former home of Sir Walter Scott.
On the way from Harrogate to Melrose, we will visit Alnwick in Northumberland for a chance to visit its impressive castle and gardens or explore the shops.
Our coach will be taking us on an optional package of excursions, including Edinburgh just 33 miles away. The majestic capital city of Scotland is full of impressive sights waiting to be discovered.
We also explore the attractive countryside in the Scottish borders including the town of Jedburgh with its colourful buildings in the Market Place and riverside walks. The cost includes en-suite hotel rooms, plus breakfast and evening meals.
There are three meeting points available for this holiday: Otford in Kent, Peterborough Services and the Harrogate hotel.
