Artesina in the southern Alps

Our Italian ski holidays are very popular and have gained a reputation for being of a high standard. Here is an opportunity to come with us to an extensive Italian ski complex situated just across the border from France. Artesina is in the southernmost part of the Alps.

Artesina is in the Mondolé ski resort, in the heart of the Maritime Alps, with 130 km of slopes served by 23 lifts. There is a great variety of pistes providing a range of challenges to suit everybody, whether it’s your first time on skis, or you’ve been going down black runs for years. A large part of the diverse slopes of Mondolé are comfortable blues, but there are enough red and black runs to keep the most seasoned skiers satisfied.

In addition to the many great ski runs, the Mondolé ski resort, comprising Frabosa Soprana, Prato Nevoso and Artesina, offers several snow parks for boarders, as well as a variety of extra activities such as sledging, snow tubing and floodlit night skiing (payable locally). If you have been skiing or boarding for many years, Artesina is the perfect place to try your hand at something new.

This destination combines the joys of Alpine skiing with a unique Italian atmosphere. Refuel with Italian coffee with sweet biscotti or indulge in an authentic pizza for lunch. Even the local hospitality has an altogether different feel to the resorts in Austria and Switzerland.

We are pleased to be offering Hotel Marguareis again this season. Its facilities include a small gym, Turkish bath and solarium (payable locally). The hotel also has a playground for the youngest guests as well as a practice area where children and beginners can learn the basics of skiing.

Hotel Marguareis is right on the snowy slopes of the Mondolé ski resort. You can ski as much as you wish and return at any time to the hotel, even if just for a powernap!  Our hotel is beautifully situated on the mountainside, enjoying fantastic views. You can almost roll out of bed onto the slopes each morning!

In February, we are very pleased to be staying at the Hotel Excelsior in Frabosa Soprana.

 

This family run three star hotel will be ideal for us. Located in the main square of the village, the hotel is just 300 m from the lift that gives access to the entire Mondolé ski area.

Both our hotels offer excellent food, including local dishes, and are served in the restaurants as we share the breakfast and evening meals together.
